NFL Draft Visit Deadline
NFL teams have until Wednesday, April 15, to host college prospects for pre-draft meetings. On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs invited a wide receiver for a “top-30” visit, who might be drafted sooner rather than later during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Chris Bell’s Visit
Chris Bell, a wide receiver from Louisville, shared a post on Instagram confirming his visit to the Chiefs’ facility on Tuesday. NFL Draft analyst Ryan Fowler also noted that the team was hosting Bell.
Draft Rankings
According to The Athletic’s consensus top 100, Bell ranks as the 68th player in this draft class, making him a viable option at Kansas City’s 74th pick. Draft expert Dane Brugler places him as the eighth-best receiver and the 47th overall prospect for 2026.
Background and Development
Hailing from Yazoo City, Mississippi, Bell was a three-star recruit who chose the University of Louisville over Mississippi State and Maryland. Initially overlooked, he joined the marching band in high school before discovering his talents on the field.
After growing to 6 feet 2 inches and 222 pounds by his sophomore year, he excelled at various positions, including running back and linebacker, while also setting a school record in the 200-meter dash.
College Performance
Over his four years at Louisville, Bell’s performance improved steadily, culminating in a senior year with 72 receptions, 917 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns. He received first team All-ACC honors and was a semifinalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.
However, his 2025 season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL suffered in November, requiring surgery in December.
Playing Style and Fit with the Chiefs
As Bell recovers from his injury, he appears to be a long-term asset for the Chiefs, aligning well with their West Coast offense philosophy. His strong physique allows him to engage in press coverage effectively.
Bell’s potential as a consistent outside receiver could mirror that of former Chiefs player Sammy Watkins if he can enhance his downfield capabilities. He may be a strategic pick for Kansas City at the 74th overall selection, albeit he might be better suited for selection on Day 3 if concerns about his immediate impact persist.
