Operation System Override will be released for Rainbow Six Siege on June 2. This new season will introduce Ranked 3.0, offering a more equitable, clear, and rewarding competitive experience. Additionally, it will feature a brand-new map called Calypso Casino, inspired by the Rainbow Six Vegas games. Furthermore, Dokkaebi will receive a remaster, changing her mass spam calls into a destructive malware hack that can damage a Defender directly. New players will gain access to the free XK23 assault rifle, enhancements for the Kanal, Outback, and Emerald Plains maps, and support for mouse-and-keyboard on consoles in a mid-season update.
Dokkaebi’s New Gadget: The Jegeo Payload
The remaster of Dokkaebi is generating buzz this season as her ability has been revamped and renamed to the Jegeo Payload.
Functionality:
The Jegeo Payload targets one Defender at a time, employing a similar system to Deimos’s DeathMark tracker. If a Defender is targeted, the ringtone will sound urgent and aggressive, prompting them to dismiss the call quickly. Unlike her previous spam calls that distracted Defenders, the Jegeo Payload runs a harmful program designed to overheat and explode the Defender’s phone, inflicting immediate damage and igniting a small fire in their vicinity, requiring them to move quickly or suffer further harm.
Impact on Observation Tools and Gadget Usage
If a Defender’s phone explodes due to a successful Jegeo Payload call, they will lose access to observation tools and certain gadgets until they are eliminated or the next round starts. This impact means no more drone hijacking for Mozzie, no laser zaps from Maestro’s Evil Eye, and no ultrasonic blasts from Echo’s Yokai. The stakes are high for these Defenders, making them attractive targets.
Dokkaebi’s Hacking Capabilities
Dokkaebi still retains the ability to hack the phones of fallen enemies, doing so from a distance and through walls. However, this intel takeover is temporary, so timing and coordination with her team is crucial.
The New XK23 Assault Rifle
To enhance Dokkaebi’s playstyle in conjunction with the Jegeo Payload, she gains a new primary weapon: the XK23 assault rifle. This short-to-medium range weapon adds versatility alongside her longer-range options, benefiting not just her but also Rauora and Sens. Every player can access the XK23 for free starting with the new season.
Introducing the Calypso Casino Map
Another significant update in Operation System Override is the addition of the Calypso Casino, inspired by a classic in the Rainbow Six franchise. This map, built specifically for high-level competitive play, will be available during the Map Ban phase, encouraging players to familiarize themselves with its intricacies and search for hidden easter eggs.
Ranked 3.0: An Overhaul
This season features the exciting launch of Ranked 3.0, a major revamp of the competitive aspect of Siege, shaped by community feedback. It offers transparency regarding players’ ranks, a fair matchmaking system starting with placement matches, and a more rewarding structure with new seasonal rewards, including charms and alpha packs. Notably, players still receive rank-based rewards based on their peak rank throughout the season.
Operation System Override launches on June 2nd for Rainbow Six Siege, with additional features including revamped maps, console mouse-and-keyboard support, and more details available at Rainbow6.com. Stay tuned for more updates as the new season approaches!
