BlueCo’s Commitment to Chelsea’s Success
Behdad Eghbali has reassured Chelsea fans that the club’s owners, BlueCo, are learning from their past errors and are dedicated to restoring consistent success at Stamford Bridge.
Protests Ahead of Key Match
Disgruntled supporters are planning a protest march before Chelsea’s match against Manchester United this Saturday. Organized by NotAProjectCFC, the protest aims to unite fans, including those from BlueCo’s sister club Strasbourg, to voice their opposition to the consortium led by Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly.
Challenges Faced This Season
As they near the end of their fourth season since acquiring the club from Roman Abramovich for £2.3 billion in June 2022, Chelsea’s performance has faltered under head coach Liam Rosenior. The youthful team now faces the risk of not qualifying for the Champions League despite significant financial investment.
Plans for Improvement
During a recent conference in Los Angeles, Eghbali acknowledged that BlueCo is still refining its ownership strategy, emphasizing their commitment to Chelsea’s standards of competing for top trophies. He stated, “For the fans, we care. We want the club to be successful, and we’re focused on delivering that on-pitch performance.”
Acknowledging Setbacks
The club’s recent downturn has been partly attributed to the sudden departure of head coach Enzo Maresca at the start of the year. Eghbali noted, “It’s a change that had a bit of a negative impact,” highlighting their intention to maintain managerial stability going forward.
Support for the Current Coach
Rosenior has had a challenging time, winning just one of his last six matches, yet Eghbali affirmed the board’s belief in him, indicating, “We think he has every attribute to be successful here.” Despite recent struggles, the board remains committed to supporting Rosenior’s long-term vision.
Future Recruitment Strategies
In light of their performance, Eghbali signaled that Chelsea is ready to pursue players who can make an immediate impact this summer. He emphasized the need for a balanced squad of experienced and elite young players to ensure the club’s long-term success.
