Novak Djokovic will not participate in the Paris Masters next week.
Following his defeat against Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals in Shanghai, Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the Paris Masters.
The seven-time champion has also opted out of the event in 2024, choosing not to defend his title secured last year.
As Djokovic approaches 39 in age, many speculate whether he will make a return to the tournament.
Director of the Paris Masters expresses hope for Djokovic’s return in 2026
In a press conference before the tournament, Pioline was questioned about his concerns regarding Djokovic’s absence from the Paris Masters.
“I genuinely hope to see Djokovic back,” he responded. “He is an extraordinary champion with numerous Masters 1000 titles under his belt.”
| Rank | Name | Masters 1000 titles | Years won |
| 1 | Novak Djokovic | 40 | 2007-2023 |
| 2 | Rafael Nadal | 36 | 2005-2021 |
| 3 | Roger Federer | 28 | 2002-2019 |
| 4 | Andre Agassi | 17 | 1990-2004 |
| 5 | Andy Murray | 14 | 2008-2016 |
While Pioline remains optimistic, he is unsure about the possibility of a 39-year-old Djokovic competing in Paris again.
“Time flies, and at 38, he is getting older for this sport. He himself acknowledges this,” he noted. “Considering his competitive spirit, he has played only around 10 tournaments in 2025.”
