Building a Resilient Portfolio
My investment strategy primarily involves strong, fundamentally sound companies that are likely to withstand market fluctuations and grow over time. Rather than pursuing every new trend, I concentrate on established stocks that exhibit real earning potential, a history of reliable returns, and strategic foresight that promises long-term gains instead of short-term profits.
Two Stocks Worth Holding
There are only a few stocks I feel comfortable keeping in my portfolio regardless of market conditions. Today, I’ll highlight two of these stocks that are not new additions, as they have consistently demonstrated their value in my investment strategy.
Aritzia: A Retail Game Changer
First on the list is Aritzia (TSX:ATZ), a leading Canadian fashion retailer that has reshaped my perspective on long-term retail investments. The stock has seen a remarkable increase of 123% in the past year, currently priced at $96.19, with a market cap of about $11.1 billion, largely due to its substantive business growth.
Strong Financial Performance
In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Aritzia reported a 32% increase in year-over-year revenue, exceeding $812 million. Both its retail and online sales flourished, with U.S. sales up by 41% and comparable sales growing by 22%, driven by high demand for its fall collection.
Growth Strategy and Financial Stability
Aritzia’s growth strategy rests on geographic expansion, enhanced digital presence, and increasing brand awareness. Over the past year, it launched 13 new boutiques while rebranding four existing ones, bringing the total to 134 boutiques. Additionally, the company is developing a new distribution center in British Columbia to bolster its logistics capabilities and support future growth.
Brookfield Corporation: A Leader in Investment
The second stock I’d retain indefinitely is Brookfield Corporation (TSX:BN), which focuses on generating long-term wealth through robust global operations. This well-regarded investment firm spans various sectors including asset management, real estate, infrastructure, and renewable energy. The stock has risen 32% over the last year and is currently valued at $65.43, with a market cap of $161.9 billion.
